As a child I had a deep fascination with anything synonymous with ‘jungle’ and ‘exotic’. I watched just about every documentary there was to do with the Amazon rainforest and its inhabitants. Naturally I had a burning desire to visit somewhere which could offer ‘jungle’, ‘exotic’ and the possibility of photographing abundant rainforest wildlife.
While Costa Rica is north of the Amazon rainforest, situated in Central America, it offers lush rainforest, as well as many microclimates due to its geography, and an amazing variety of animals.
Combine that with a well-developed tourism infrastructure and around 5% of the world’s biodiversity and it’s a wildlife photographer’s dream.
